Envision UC Irvine

Project Phases & Key Milestones

Developing an LRDP is a collaborative, multi-year process that brings together students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders. Their perspectives help shape a plan that aligns with shared priorities, advances academic and research excellence, and reinforces UC Irvine’s role as a responsible environmental steward and valued community partner.

    1. Physical Planning
Development of a long-term campus framework aligned with UC Irvine’s academic, research and sustainability priorities.
    2. Community Engagement
Collaboration with students, faculty, staff, neighbors, and regional partners to gather input and build shared understanding.
    3. Environmental Review
Comprehensive analysis conducted under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to assess potential physical impacts and implement mitigation measures to reduce impacts to the environment.
    4. Public Comment Review and Feedback
Opportunities for the public to review and public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
    5. Finalization and Adoption
    6. Preparation of the Final EIR (FEIR) and presentation of the proposed LRDP and the LRDP EIR to the UC Board of Regents for consideration and adoption.
