A Framework for UC Irvine’s Future:
 2027 Long Range Development Plan
The 2027 UC Irvine Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) is a strategic capital and space planning effort designed to guide the future physical development of the campus in support of our academic mission, sustainability goals, and role as a regional partner.
This LRDP is not a directive for expansion; it is a proactive framework to evaluate potential future needs and to identify how the campus can responsibly evolve over the next 15 to 20 years.
The LRDP helps UC Irvine:
- Explore a range of future planning scenarios
- Test capacity thresholds to understand what the campus can support
- Prepare for long-term capital investments with greater clarity
- Ensure compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and other regulatory standards
- Guide future physical changes in a responsible, environmentally conscious way
As UC Irvine addresses sustainability goals, resource demands, housing needs, and transportation infrastructure, this planning process will help us create a resilient, welcoming campus that is positioned to thrive for decades to come.
